Kids, what's the matter with kids today?

For the past two weeks, six out of the eight of us have been spending an hour each Thursday at a nearby shougakkou (elementary school) teaching the kids various levels of Eigo vocabulary and generally being a source of entertainment. I got the first graders, who are as active as you'd expect. First day I got handed a bunch of homemade meishi (essentially Japanese business cards, though they've got more significance here; of course, the ones the kids made weren't exactly professional) and they learned greetings; this week we went over a few animal names, plus that old classic "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" (I have no idea where the teacher found a CD with that song, but she did). David had a few stories from the sixth graders, most of whom can construct simple English sentences and have a tendency to pump him full of questions. Especially this one class clown, who loved responding to just about any question directed his way with "Toilet paper!" (The teacher asked what David thought of him at one point, David responded that the kid was "interesting", and then the teacher asked if he thought America might take him. :D)
