At work late (yes, AGAIN).

To keep myself distracted, here's a meme I stole from
matadin:
Leave a list of fictional characters in your journal that you would love to get a message from. It is your friend-list's mission, should they choose to accept it, to write you an in-character "letter" from a character on that list. Then they post their own list in their journal and the process continues!
1) River Tam (Firefly)
2) Dave Jones (College Roomies From Hell!!!)
3) Laguna Loire (Final Fantasy 8)
4) Severus Snape (Harry Potter)
5) Death (Discworld)
6) Goliath (Gargoyles)
7) Millie Thompson (Trigun)
8) Maes Hughes (Full Metal Alchemist)
9) Violet Parr (The Incredibles)
10) Chichiri (Fushigi Yuugi)
11) Minsc (Baldur's Gate)
12) Chiyo Mihama (Azumanga Daioh)

Date: 2006-02-07 08:13 pm (UTC)IT HAS RECENTLY COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT AT THE RATE OF YOUR CURRENT OCCUPATION, YOU WILL UNDENIABLY MEET ME VIA THE FATE KNOWN AS "OVERWORKED." ALTHOUGH I DO NOT KNOW WHY YOU MORTALS ARE SO DESPERATE TO WORK SO MUCH AND THEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT, I ALSO UNDERSTAND NOW THAT YOU, UNLIKE MYSELF, ARE NOT IMMORTAL. IT HAS ALSO COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS "DEATH BY WORK," IF YOU WILL, IS NOT BY YOUR OWN VOLITION.
SINCE I HAVE ALREADY FULFILLED MY QUOTA FROM THIS CATEGORY AND I HAVE READ THIS CURIOUS ITEM KNOWN AS YOUR "LIVEJOURNAL" (A NAME WHICH I FIND CLEVERLY IRONIC FOR MY OWN PURPOSES; MAYBE I WILL FIND MY OWN SOMEDAY) AND FIND THAT YOU ARE STILL TOO YOUNG FOR THIS HORRIBLE FATE TO OCCUR TO YOU, I WILL BE LENIENT PROVIDED THAT YOU CONTINUE TO POST. (OR POST PICTURES OF CATS. I ENJOY CATS VERY MUCH.) YOU PROVIDE A GREAT SERVICE TO ME, AND I ENSURE THAT YOU ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK.
I KNOW THESE THINGS.
I WILL HOPEFULLY SEE YOU SOON IN ORDER TO TALK MORE (BUT I SUPPOSE FOR YOUR SAKE, MAYBE NOT TOO SOON). I NEED TO GET BACK TO WORK; RINCEWIND HAS APPARENTLY FALLEN OFF A CLIFF.
RESPECTFULLY,
DEATH
P.S. I WILL INDEED GET A LIVEJOURNAL. THE DAILY KITTEN PICTURES ARE VERY PROMISING TO ME.

Date: 2006-02-07 08:47 pm (UTC)Ah, good, I was about to recommend the Kittenbreak community when I got to your PS. I'm sure all the other readers would enjoy having such a famous cat fancier in their midst. And it'll be a good place for us to converse without me having to worry about whether it's business or pleasure that brings you.
As for the "desperate to work" business, thankfully this only happens in brief spurts. Although I don't enjoy the frantic pace of these rare but lengthy days, any more than you enjoy throwing off your schedule with yet another false alarm for Rincewind (was the call for real this time, by the way?) I do like being steadily productive the rest of the time. I'm sure you can appreciate that sentiment.

PS: Say hi to Blackstone for me, will you? I miss the little fuzzball.
