a. Post a list of 15 fandoms.
b. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each one.
c. When guessed, bold the line, include the character name, and write a sentence about why you like that character.

Not even remotely in any sort of order...

01) Trigun - Nicholas D. Wolfwood. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] thunderphoenix) Torn between idealism and realism, loyal to his friends but willing to question their motives, Christian without being either flawless or corrupt. And he thinks Millie is cute.
02) Homestar Runner - The Cheat. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] matadin) Seriously, you KNOW he's the smartest one in Town. He's also got attitude. And he's an amusing shape that makes amusing sounds. (...What? This is Homestar-friggin'-Runner.com! You were expecting me to talk about how the Cheat has developed profoundly character-wise?)
03) Azumanga Daioh - Sakaki. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] matadin) Quiet girl that everyone assumes is uber-cool... when in fact she's just really shy. Sort of the silent protector of the group. Loves cats (no matter what THEY think of HER). Once caught a snowball out of the air and returned fire in one swift motion. And oh yeah, she's hot.
04) Cowboy Bebop - Radical Edward. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] thunderphoenix) Every so often a character is just so completely and utterly WEIRD that she rocks. While everyone else takes life seriously, Ed remains blissfully lost in her own world, definitely helpful yet bordering on insane in the process. If I'd put FF9 on this list, Quina probably would have been my favorite there for the same reasons.
05) CSI
06) Final Fantasy VII - Reeve. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] matadin, sort of) I find Reeve a surprisingly complex character, far more so than I originally expected out of him. The "honorable enemy/infiltrator who eventually switches sides" is an old cliche, but he pulls it off in a very unique way that suggests there's far more to him than starched suit. (Which is the real Reeve, the formal businessman or the rambunctious goof? Maybe both?) And he remains, to the end, a reminder that AVALANCHE isn't pure either -- that the reactor strike cost innocent lives -- and that he's here to protect not the company but the people under it.
07) Buffy/Angel - Spike. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cassaclyzm) As a villain or as a hero, Spike's always been the same: damn cool. A great contrast to Angel; he's always been about doing his own thing and tossing a snark while he's doing it. Yet for those he cares for, he'll do anything. Gotta love him.
08) Babylon 5
09) Lord of the Rings - Samwise Gamgee. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] wattsu) How did this hobbit gardener even survive, much less prove a hero? One word: loyalty. Sam was constantly motivated to go above and beyond simply because he intended to protect Frodo to the end. And when Gollum was scheming and Frodo was a gibbering wreck, Sam pushed onward and fought bravely.
10) Naruto - Nara Shikamaru. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] chime) There is something utterly awesome about a solution being "I quit"... and then getting commended for it. Shikamaru continues to boredly toss out ingenious tactics and wonder why everyone bothers to give him so much attention when he really doesn't want it. Basically, he gets my vote for favorite simply by being the only realist in the whole village; while the others are charging blindly at the enemy, he actually bothers to think about what he's doing. That boy is our last hope.
11) Firefly
12) Fushigi Yuugi - Chichiri. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cassaclyzm) Aside from the obvious reasons (humorous, got mad firepower), he's really a profound character. He hides his pain behind his mask, always smiling but never laughing. He's also, in a team full of teenagers, one of the most wise and mature; the spiritual center of the group.
13) Fullmetal Alchemist - Maes Hughes. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] matadin) From the start, when he switched from gushing over his wife to dead serious in five seconds flat, I knew I'd enjoy this guy. He's the biggest dork in the cast, but smart enough to figure stuff out faster than the rest of the team. He loves his work, his family, and giving Roy a kick in the pants from time to time. Also, knife fighter, which are a rare sight in or out of anime and very awesome to watch in action.
14) Final Fantasy VI - Sabin Rene Figaro. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mountainranger) Really, why shouldn't I like the guy? He gave up royalty to do what he loves. He's got a great, well-written friendship with his brother. He tosses quips like a regular action hero, which I find VERY amusing for an RPG. And the Bum Rush is the most awesome attack in the game. (And yes, I know I once said Celes was my favorite. Times change.)
15) Harry Potter - Neville Longbottom. (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mountainranger, somehow) If you'd asked me this before I read Book 5, I probably would have said Hermione or Lupin. But suddenly, BAM! Neville does something cool! BAM! He does it again! BAM! He's competent! When did this happen? And if Dumbledore's right, he's got the potential to be kicking ass by the end of Book 7. I just find it really awesome that the character who spent four years languishing has finally come into his own. And I'm really looking forward to seeing what he'll do in the last two books.

*sniff* I don't get a "guessed by" because I am inferior and second-guessing. Oh well...

Hmm, if you don't mind, I guess I'll keep going with Harry Potter.

Oh, and that sort of surprised me with Sabin, though he was my favorite also (or tied with Celes, or whatever. It's hard for me to find definite favorites.)

Anyway, Mad-Eye Moody?

Hermione

And if not, can I get a clue: Is the person a teacher?

Yay challenge!

I'll go with Luna Lovegood and "Is it a student?"

That should be enough, though it may still take a bit. =P

I'll hold off on the girls for now. Assuming its one of the main male students who isn't evil (Draco etc.) or dies (Cecil? I forget his name), how about Neville Longbottom?
