Yup, they finally finished the exam, and all the after-effects thereof.
- This series is really reminding me of Rurouni Kenshin (but with ninja instead of samurai... and with Yahiko as the main character). Long battles, with people taking breaks to explain how cool their moves are and how their techniques make them invincible (only to have our heroes kick their asses anyway). Taking a break from the action for as much as an episode to explain why a character is so tormented. No forseeable end to the series. Naruto Battousai. :P Fortunately, I like Kenshin even if I mock it occasionally, so looks like I'm sticking with it.
- On the other hand, every time they cut back to Hokage vs. Orochimaru, I kept thinking: "You have only five minutes before your soul is ripped out!" "You have only four minutes and fifty-five seconds before your soul is ripped out!" Eesh. And those three ANBU waiting around sure were helpful. Hey morons, if you can't get in and you can't see what's going on, how about helping out Kakashi and Guy?
- Lee vs. Gaara is STILL the coolest battle to date. Get well soon, Lee!
- But Shikamaru is rapidly rising on my list of heroes. Heh, "I quit." (And they had me going for a bit: I honestly thought he was toast, and then he manages to hold eight out of nine off until backup arrives.)
- Sucks to be the Sound Ninja. Guess Dosu was in the coffin that never surfaced. Oh well, we knew he was dead already.
- Glad they brought Sasuke's seal back into things at least once before the story ended. Thought they'd blocked it off and forgotten about it, which seemed like a cop-out.
- Current pairings to be cheered for loudly: Naruto/Hinata, Sakura/Lee.
- Question before I get started on the next storyline... have they finished it yet? Or at least hit a good break point? (Or at least told who actually got promoted to Chuunin? Or the fifth Hokage?)
- [EDIT] And something else I thought of in hindsight: during the Battle of Konoha, we saw the parents of Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Shikamaru, Chouji, and Ino (appropriately, they were all using advanced forms of their kids' moves; after all, who would be the first ones to teach the kids?) And Naruto and Sasuke are both orphans. But where were Sakura's parents in all that? For that matter, what about Lee's or Tenten's?
