Aww. :( Well they can be cute. But I think sometimes people like them because they're cute instead of thinking about the situation. What CMZ put specifically, I don't know that I like so much, since it seems the person responding may not be super logical either -- I didn't put much thought into it.
I suppose I think the biggest offenders are hypothetical choices rather than fictional parables, where someone is like "If you were in a boat, and you had to eat HITLER, or GEORGE BUSH, which would you eat?!"
