Election results for my area:

Governor race: Arnold wins big.
Senate race: Feinstein wins big.
House race: Rohabacher Rohrabaker Rora the incumbent wins big. (Hell, I just moved into the district two months ago... like I know anything about him anyway.)

Always nice to know my vote had such a big effect. *goes to sleep and lets the rest of the Senate sort itself out*

Individual votes don't matter. Simple fact.

Individual votes as part of a mass movement? Yep, those do.

All you need is a good-sized group of people that believes their vote matters, and much can be accomplished electorally.
