That was graceful...
Aug. 1st, 2007 11:22 amThey've been cleaning up the parking structure at my workplace half a floor at a time: they cordon off the outside or the spots and hit it with a hose or something while there's no one parked there. Makes getting through that floor a bit of a pain, as you've only got one lane to work with as you work your way up the loop, but by God's grace I have yet to meet someone coming the other way.
This morning I actually parked on the floor they were cleaning, only to discover that all the stairs on that floor were in the cordoned-off zone. Well, no worries, that's just to keep the cars from parking there. No one's actually cleaning in that area at the moment, so I just dart/duck under and...
...fail to consider exactly how low I need to duck to get under that tape. Rapid burst of speed + drastically shifted center of gravity = total failure to maintain balance.
Okay, pick yourself up off the concrete, check for major injury (none, just skinned your palms and elbows a bit), make sure no one was around to see that (nope, your honor is preserved), and walk to the office pretending nothing's amiss. If anyone asks, you MEANT to do that....
