I find this incredibly cool.

Cox and Forkum, famed (but conservative, to give you fair warning) political cartoonists, have just plugged not-so-famed but brilliant (and politically neutral) webcomic Schlock Mercenary.

Heh. One should never read poltical cartoonists from the other side of the spectrum from one's slef, just because they end up seeming so silly. Playing a fiddle while Paris burns has potential, but smearing "multiculturalism" on it is just stupid, given that the French are famously assilimationist...well, you get the idea of the type of frustration that sort of thing generates ;-)

given that the French are famously assilimationist ...

*Tries hard not to snort* I'd certainly agree that the French aren't "multicultural" in sense that we Americans would use, but calling the African ghettos of France "assimilated" or even claiming the French made serious efforts to assimilate them is just a wee bit of stretch. Assuming you haven't burned your conservative reading quotient for the day ...

Oh, I agree that they haven't been successfully assimilationist. The point is that their attitude has been that migrants must assimilate to French culture (without, at least as a broad generalization, making it possible for this to actually happen). Calling that "multiculturalism" is just an empty attempt to point at a distaster and claim ideological points for (which is the mission of the day for most commentary on the French riots anyhow).

Oh, brother, why do have Pope John XXIII Regional High School on your info page?
