I've opted not to get a cell phone after all; I simply don't make enough calls to justify it (well, internet dialup, but you can't run that to my computer through a cell line and I don't feel like doing my websurfing on a tiny screen). On the few instances where it would be useful, I've always had a fellow yugakusei (exchange student) or tutor who does have a cell to make the call for me. Usually Tae. Tae-kun opted to go for the deluxe model when buying his: it includes a tiny digital camera(!), netsurfing/email-checking capability, and (his personal favorite) access to an online database of music files. The last one is mostly to download new tunes for when the phone rings (they all sound appropriately MIDI as a result), but there's nothing stopping him from playing any or all of them whenever he wants, and he's managed to build up a decent library that he'll leaf through when bored. We've been joking that he should pick one for his theme music and cue it up whenever he enters a room.
I seem to have a slight case of the sniffles. But so does half the campus. I blame them. :p
