Typhoon off the port bow!

Yeah, you heard right. There's a small but serviceable hurricane headed toward the Japanese coastline as I type this, due to hit sometime over the weekend. Tsuru's more than far enough inland, so we'll probably get some stormy weather but nothing serious. Nonetheless, if it arrives tomorrow, we'll have to abort the Fuji climb... stormy weather that high means blizzard (or at least sleet) and we aren't prepared for something like that.

The holiday this week turned out to be some sort of festival. It's also probably why I haven't seen my tutor since last Wednesday; a lot of students went home to their families. Could have warned me...
