That took longer than expected...
Jul. 12th, 2002 02:43 pmI can't bring my regular computer with me to Nihon (too big), so I'm bumming a laptop off a friend for the next five months. I also came up with the bright idea of moving any useful data over to the laptop, and then transferring them back with any changes when I return. That includes my message storage for both ICQ and Eudora. To do that efficiently, I needed to go in with a machete and get rid of anything I didn't need anymore.
First came ICQ, which was easy. Had more than a few people on that list I'd only talked to once or twice (if that) and then forgotten about. And some I haven't seen on in ages; I suspect they've stopped using the program entirely or have decided to go invisible. They all got deleted from the list (except for Steve, who I didn't have the heart to remove). Also pulled up some old memories and just read for a bit. (And Bugen, did you know I'm STILL waiting for your authorization? :p)
On to Eudora. That was more of a challenge. The last time I'd bothered to clean out the underbrush there was a year ago, and a ton of expired notices, newsletters I didn't care about, and just plain junk had been piling up. Took nearly three hours to finish the job, but I cleaned out over a thousand emails in the end. Felt good.
