I've been meaning to rip my entire CD collection onto disk. Got about halfway through early in the year, then got distracted by other projects and forgot about it. Thought I'd finally finish the job this week. So Wednesday I feed four or five CDs through, then check the results... and find that several of the mp3s "skip" a few seconds into the songs. Okay, obviously something wrong here. So I deleted the glitched songs, and late last night I defragged the hard drive, figuring that was the problem. Then I made sure this morning that all other programs -- I mean everything -- were off, to avoid taking up any more resources than absolutely necessary. With that done, I hit "record."

The number of songs that skipped ROSE. >_<

I'm beginning to suspect that last upgrade to my CD ripper was actually a downgrade. Can anyone recommend another program?

The only Critical Update you have for me fixes a security glitch in Windows Media Player 7.1. I never downloaded version 7.1. I do not plan to download it, because 6.4 is much less of a memory hog. So you do not need to alert me about this Critical Update I need to download EVERY DAY!
