Wireless networks...

Aren't that expensive? A 802.11g router costs around $120, I think, and a PCI card is like $50-$60. 802.11b is even cheaper, and might make more sense for your situation if it's just going to be 'net access. However, unless you have extremely narrow streets, I don't think that the connection will be very good by the time it gets to your house. And if you switch to a wireless network, that will slow down your across-network file transfers...if it's from the across the street, you can almost forget about filesharing, although you can probably still stream mp3s and movies fine.
