*yawn*
Thursday I got a call. Specifically, Thursday at 4:30. In the morning.
I grumbled, checked the caller ID, confirmed it was no one I knew personally, and kicked it over to voice mail. Then attempted to go back to sleep. Whoever it was, they didn't leave a message.
Anyway...
Friday I got a call. Specifically, Friday at 4. In the morning.
I grumbled, checked the caller ID... my mind managed to pull together a memory from the night previous. It was the same number. Okay, breathe deep, calmly pick up the call, and say in a pleasant tone, "Who the hell is this?!"
*click*
Hmm. Scared him. Good. Let's follow that up; I'm not letting him get away that easily. My cell phone, conveniently, allows you to go into the call history and return calls to any of them.
An uncertain, "Hello?" I reply with a firm: "Stop. Calling. Me." He got apologetic, claiming wrong number... well, that's fine, but you didn't figure that out from my answering service yesterday? Regardless of whether it was an honest (duplicated) mistake or a prank caller, I think I put the fear of God into him by proving I could track him down, because I haven't heard from him since.
A pity. I had his address pulled off a reverse phone directory and the local police loaded into speed dial, just for him.
